Two Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) in Nandi County have joined the National Assembly Speaker-led Moses Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya party.

The legislatures were members of the Amani National Congress (ANC) party, before its dissolution, and they now have a new home in Ford Kenya.

The lion party's Secretary General, John Chikati, received Eliud Kirongo, MCA Kapkangani Ward who doubles up as minority leader in the Nandi County Assembly, alongside Geoffrey Kevolwe of Kiptuya Ward.

The latter is also the Minority Whip in the Nandi County Assembly. They were welcomed to Ford Kenya on Wednesday morning, at the party headquarters along Riverside drive, in Nairobi.

"We are proud to receive new members who resonate with our vision, manifesto, and the values we uphold as a party. This is a great step for the growth of our party and for inclusive development,” said Chikati.

The two MCAs, both serving their third terms, were elected on an ANC ticket before the party was absorbed into the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), under the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Kirongo and Kevolwe’s delegation was led by Hassan Kagoni, the Kabwareng Ward MCA. Kagoni was elected on the Ford Kenya ticket.

Kagoni said the decision to join Ford Kenya followed extensive consultations with ANC grassroots leaders and voters, who felt politically orphaned after the dissolution of the ANC.

The defectors were promptly issued lifetime membership certificates.
