Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy party leader and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has attributed the growing divisions within the party to differences in vision among its leaders, warning that the wrangles could weaken the party if not addressed urgently.

Osotsi emphasized the need for ODM to remain independent and free from external influence, insisting that the party’s strength lies in its unity and ideological clarity. He cautioned against actions that may compromise ODM’s autonomy, particularly as the country edges closer to the next general election.

The Vihiga Senator further revealed that he did not attend the recent ODM meeting held in Kilifi, stating that he had advised the party leadership to postpone the gathering.

According to Osotsi, he personally spoke to ODM party leader Oburu Odinga and requested that the meeting be deferred to allow for broader consultations. However, his plea was ignored, and the meeting proceeded without his involvement.

Osotsi also dismissed claims that he had sent greetings to the Kilifi meeting, terming such assertions as “political mischief.”

“I did not authorise anyone to speak or convey messages on my behalf,” he said, accusing certain individuals of engaging in deceptive political tactics to advance their own interests.

In a sharp attack on some ODM leaders, Osotsi alleged that a section of party officials currently touring different parts of the country are being financed by President William Ruto. He argued that such actions raise serious questions about their loyalty to the party and its core principles.

Despite his criticism, Osotsi was careful not to single out specific individuals, noting that his remarks were aimed at addressing conduct rather than targeting personalities.

He urged ODM leaders to engage in honest dialogue and resolve internal disagreements to safeguard the party’s future.

The senator concluded by calling for unity, transparency, and adherence to ODM’s founding ideals, warning that continued infighting could erode public trust and weaken the party’s position on the national political stage.
