Vihiga gubernatorial aspirant and current Emuhaya Member of Parliament (MP) Jeremiah Omboko Milemba on Tuesday received a major political boost after elders from across Emuhaya constituency endorsed his gubernatorial bid, during a meeting held at his Esirulo home.

The meeting brought together respected community elders, family members, close friends and political supporters who converged to deliberate on the region’s leadership and development priorities ahead of the 2027 general election.

The elders unanimously agreed to back Milemba, citing his leadership record, humility and long-standing commitment to the welfare of the people of Emuhaya and the wider Vihiga County.

In a symbolic ceremony, the elders prayed for Milemba, asking for wisdom, good health and divine guidance as he seeks higher office. They described the prayers and endorsement as a sign of unity and confidence in his ability to steer the county towards inclusive development and accountable leadership.

Speaking during the meeting, Milemba expressed gratitude for the endorsement, terming it a great honour and a clear demonstration of trust from the community. He said the support from elders was critical, noting that elders play a key role in shaping values, promoting peace and guiding society, especially during political transitions.

“I am deeply humbled by your prayers and endorsement. This support strengthens my resolve to serve with integrity and to champion the interests of our people at the county level,” Milemba said.

The aspirant reiterated his development agenda, which focuses on improving health services, strengthening agriculture, empowering the youth and women, and enhancing infrastructure across Vihiga County. He also emphasized the need for unity and peaceful coexistence as the county prepares for the next election cycle.

Elders, family members and friends present pledged to mobilise voters across Emuhaya and neighbouring areas to ensure Milemba’s victory, saying his leadership experience at the national level places him in a strong position to lead the county.

The endorsement is expected to boost Milemba’s campaign as he intensifies grassroots engagements across the county.
