Emuhaya Member of Parliament (MP) Jeremiah Omboko Milemba has congratulated President William Ruto for allowing grade 10 learners to report to school with or without school fees and uniforms.

Milemba said the president’s directive will ensure that no child is denied education due to financial challenges. He described the move as timely and compassionate especially at a time when many families are struggling with the high cost of living.

Omboko urged all chiefs, assistant chiefs, politicians, teachers’ union officials, business people and other community leaders to conduct thorough checks within their areas to ensure every child who qualified for grade 10 has reported to school.

“No learner should be left at home because of lack of school fees or absence of a school uniform,” stressed the second term MP.

The legislator also urged teachers and school administrators to accept all Grade 10 learners without discrimination, regardless of whether they have paid fees or are fully dressed in school uniform.

He emphasised that schools should prioritise admission, noting that government support will follow.

On school financing, Milemba appealed to the president to ensure that school capitation funds are released on time to ease learning and enable schools to operate smoothly. He noted that delays in capitation place unnecessary pressure on school management and affect service delivery.

Addressing concerns over infrastructure and learning materials, the MP said it is important for all grade 10 learners to first report to school so that proper roll calls can be conducted. This, he explained, will help the government establish accurate enrollment figures and plan accordingly.

He further urged the national government to ensure that all learning materials, including textbooks, are delivered to schools by Friday next week to support effective learning.

Omboko called on parents to cooperate with authorities by sending their children to school immediately, reaffirming his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition for grade 10 learners in his constituency.
