Siaya to host international friendlies among East African Football giants

Siaya County Governor, James Orengo has announced that the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga  Stadium will host two East African Football giants in February.

 

"The most successful  club in Tanzanian football history Yanga will square it out with the Kenyan giants, the Mighty Gor Mahia, K'ogallo sirkal at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium on the 22nd February 2025," declared Orengo urging soccer enthusiasts in the regards to mark their calenders.

On the 2nd of January, Gor Mahia FC played against Kitara FC from Uganda in a match that saw the stadium thronged by thousands of spectators during the launch of the stadium. 

The match was also graced by President William Ruto and his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni.

Gvernors among them Prof. Peter Anyang Nyong'o of Kisumu, Gladys Wanga of Homa Bay, Ochillo Ayacko of Migori and host county boss James Orengo were also present.

Orengo stated that Yanga could not make it to the launching of the stadium expressing his gratitude to the team for creating time to honour the invite.

" YANGA FC could not make it to Siaya County for the official launch of the stadium on the 2nd January because of a CAF Champions League game against TP Masembe that was scheduled for the 4th January, 2025 but thankfully we now have a convenient date," appreciated Orengo.

The county boss has also thanked both teams for creating time to honour the invite, urging football lovers to turn up in large numbers. 

" I thank both teams for accepting our gracious invitation and invite all of you to the great County of Siaya to watch this historic, iconic and mouthwatering game of football," averred the Siaya governor.
