On Sunday, October 27, 2024, Harambee Stars were beaten 2-0 by South Sudan in Juba in the first leg of the opening round of the qualifiers.

Second half goals were enough for the Bright Stars to pick an important win in their quest to qualify for a first ever senior continental showpiece.

Ezbon Malish opened the scoring in the 50th minute before midfielder Yohanna Juba completed the victory in the 68th minute.

The fixture doesn’t have a big bearing on Harambee Stars, given the fact that Kenya will host the 2025 CHAN tournament, alongside Uganda and Tanzania.

Simply put, Kenya is using the qualifiers as a training ground for preparations ahead of the soccer bonanza.
