Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga has today reassigned her cabinet in a bid to ensure proper and efficiency in service delivery.
In the reassignment of the County Executive Committee Members (CECMs), Wanga has moved Roseline Omolo to the County Department of Governance, Administration, Communication and Devolution, formerly held by Grace Osewe who will take over Omolo's previous docket of Public Health and Medical Services.
Dr. Joash Oloo shifts to the Trade, Investments, Industrialization, Tourism and Marketing docket, from the Water, Irrigation, Sanitation, Environment, Energy, Forestry and Climate Change now under Dr. John Angili.
Dr. Angili had previously been in-charge of Blue Economy, Fisheries, Mining, and Digital Economy, which has since been taken over by Sarah Malit.
Malit was the CECM for Youth, Sports, Talent Development, Gender inclusivity, Cultural Heritage and Social services.
Governor Wanga has also nominated other individuals to fill in the vacant cabinet positions.
Among the nominated is Elijah Ogodo Munga and Elly Otieno Nyiero, who have been nominated as the CECM and Chief Officer for Youth, Sports, Talent Development, Gender Inclusivity, Cultural Heritage and Social services respectively.
Stephen Okeyo Othira has also been nominated as the Chief Officer for Vocational Training and Human Capital Development, in the county.
The nominated officers were appointed after a competitive recruitment process by the county public service board, and are awaiting approval by the County Assembly.
Moreover, 8 Chief Officers from various departments have also been reassigned dockets in the shake-up.
Ellyas Orondo Okech has been moved to the Lands and Physical Planning docket, as Elijah Obiny Dede heads to Road and Transport.
Jack Maurice Obonyo is the new Chief officer for Gender Inclusivity and Women Empowerment, while Collins Onyango Obango takes over as the Chief Officer for Education.
Other Chief Officers reassigned roles in various departments include; Diana Onyango Ongere (Water, Sanitation, Environment, Energy, Forestry and Climate Change), Judith Mildred Ombok (Agriculture, Irrigation and Cooperatives Development), Kennedy Odhiambo Ojala (Blue Economy, Fisheries, Mining and Digital Economy) and Isaac Victor Ongiri who has been reassigned as the chief officer, Administration, Devolution Stakeholder Management, Public Participation, Special Projects and Disaster Management.
The changes take effect immediately.
