President William Samoei Ruto on Tuesday declared that the Afreximbank has been at the forefront of developing innovative strategies to provide credit to African governments.
The bank, he said, has over the years promoted stronger collaboration among Sub-Saharan nations, with Kenya as a leading example.
“The other decision I made was to invest an additional Sh40 million dollars in Afreximbank because we recognize the value of strengthening African institutions that understand our economic landscape better. They can support, innovate, and use creative approaches to drive the growth of our economy,” he added.
Speaking during the official opening of the 4th African Sub-Sovereign Governments Network (AfSNET) conference in Kisumu, he confirmed that various aspects of the economy have supported the importation of fuels, commodity trade, and several other sectors.
President Ruto announced plans to establish 10 mining sites along Lake Victoria, spanning from Busia to Migori County.
He emphasized that the Kabonyo Fish project will be fully operationalized to alleviate pressure on Lake Victoria, by providing an alternative source of fish.
He later addressed Kisumu residents at Kondele and the Central Business District (CBD).
