The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has issued a statement after Kenyans online reported delays in accessing the just released 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.

Cabinet Secretary (CS) for education Julius Ogamba released the results on Thursday. The results can only be accessed online via the official portal: https://results.knec.ac.ke, with the SMS platform not being available this time round.

Candidates are required to enter their index number and any one of the names as per the registration data for the 2024 exam results.

Kenyans reported facing difficulties in accessing the results, prompting KNEC to respond as such:

“Due to high traffic, some users may experience difficulties accessing the portal. This is a common occurrence during peak times following results release. Wait for a few minutes and try accessing the portal again,” said the Council.

“Attempt to access the site during non-peak hours, such as late evening, when traffic is lighter.”

Parents, guardians and students with difficulties accessing results can call the following toll-free numbers: 0800724900, 0800721410.

962, 512 candidates sat for KCSE exams in 2024, with female learners being more than their male colleagues for the first time since the inception of KCSE over 30 years ago.

CS Ogamba revealed that 1,693 candidates got grade A plain in the exams, compared to 1,216 in 2023, with 840 having their results cancelled after being adjudged to have engaged in exam malpractices.

A total of 246, 391 candidates got direct university entry qualification of C+ and above.

Starting this year, CS Ogamba said, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) will introduce a mid-year KCSE exam series to be administered every July.

“I wish to announce that KNEC will introduce a mid-year series of the KCSE examination to be administered in July every year. The examination will target candidates wishing to repeat the KCSE exam and those who may have missed sitting due to sickness or unexpected hardships.”
