King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and Her Majesty Queen Máxima are expected to visit Kenya in March, 2025.

According to information shared by the Royal House of the Netherlands, the King and Her Majesty will be in the country at the invitation of President William Ruto.

They will be here for three days, from Tuesday 18 to Thursday, March 20, 2025.

“This first state visit to Kenya is a reaffirmation of the good relations and solid cooperation between our two countries,” the statement reads in part.

“The Netherlands seeks to engage in new partnerships in various areas, and to deepen the countries’ existing ties. Kenya plays an increasingly influential role in the global arena. In addition, the Netherlands and Kenya maintain close economic relations, and both are major hubs and gateways to large regions.”

Kenya and Netherlands currently work together within the United Nations (UN) and other international organisations, towards goals relating to democracy, the rule of law and independence of the judiciary.

The Netherlands and Kenya also work together on challenges relating to peace and security, climate change and food security.

Willem-Alexander’s visit to Kenya will follow the May, 2023 meeting between him and President Ruto. The two met and held talks at the Hague, Netherlands.

The Dutch King and Queen will be the second members of the Royal Family to visit Kenya, after the United Kingdom’s King Charles III and Queen Camilla toured Kenya from October 31 to November 3, 2023.
