Roseline Odhiambo Odede is dead.
Until her demise on Friday, January 03, 2025, Odede was serving as the chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR).
The Commission in a statement on Saturday said she lost the battle after a short illness.
"It is with shock and seep sorrow that KNCHR informs you all of the demise of Roseline Odhiambo Odede, HSC, Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, that happened yesterday, Friday 3rd January 2025 after a short illness," stated the commission through a press release signed by vice chairperson, Dr. Raymond Nyeris.
The commission appreciated Odede for the transformation she oversaw during her tenure, noting that her death is a big blow.
"Her untimely death is a big blow to the commission and the nation at large,” read part of the statement, reiterating that her exceptional services will be dearly missed.
"During this period of mourning, we send our message of condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the family, friends and all those who knew Roseline. May the memories of her exceptional service bring comfort and strength during this difficult time," solaced KNCHR.
Previously, Odede served as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a certified mediator, an arbitrator and a social and environmental impact auditor and assessor.
Odede also served as the vice chairperson of the Judges and Magistrates Vetting Board.
Funeral arrangements yet to be announced.
