A primary school teacher was arraigned in a Bondo court on Wednesday, in connection with the murder of a 40-year-old man.
Jean Ogol, a senior teacher at Sangla Primary School in Rarieda sub-county, is accused of killing Erick Marwara along with her co-accused, Henry Opiyo.
It was established that Marwara had inherited Ogol, and they were living together before his death.
The duo was arrested after Marwara’s body was found hanging from a rope tied to the roof of an incomplete semi-permanent house on August 10, 2024, at Matangwe village, Barkowino sub-location in Bondo sub-county.
Preliminary police reports indicated that Marwara’s body had visible physical injuries on his nose, left leg, right hand, and blood stains on his trousers.
“It was suspected that he was beaten and killed elsewhere before being hanged inside the unfinished house. His legs were slightly touching the floor,” stated the report.
The body was taken to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The suspects, who had been released on a bond of Sh300,000 each, appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate John Nandi on Wednesday.
However, they failed to take a plea after the investigating officers requested more time to conclude investigations and present the file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.
The matter will be mentioned on September 3.
