The Kenya U20 national football team, Rising Stars, secured a place in the semifinals of the U20 AFCON CECAFA qualifiers, after a commanding 4-0 win over Sudan on Tuesday, at the Azam Sports Complex.
Forward Aldrine Kibet was the standout performer, opening his tournament goal-scoring tally in spectacular fashion with a hat-trick.
Kibet wasted no time putting Kenya ahead, scoring the first goal in the 3rd minute.
He added a second just before halftime in the 41st minute, giving Kenya a comfortable lead going into the break.
Kibet sealed his incredible performance with a stoppage-time goal in the 91st minute to complete his hat-trick and secure the win.
Kenya’s other goal came from Kevin Wangaya, who netted a well-placed strike in the 66th minute to further solidify Kenya’s dominance in the match.

Kenya has had a good run in the group stage winning 3 matches and drawing another, as they remain undefeated in the tournament.
With this victory, Kenya now advances to the semifinals, where they will face Burundi on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Azam Sports Complex.
The team will be looking to maintain their momentum as they push for a spot in the final and a chance to qualify for the U20 AFCON tournament.
