Busia County will host the Lake Region Economic Block (BLOC) summit next month.
The announcement was made by Busia governor Paul Otuoma, though he did not indicate the venue and date of the summit.
Otuoma said the summit will accord residents of the border county an opportunity to showcase their potential in various fields.
"We have aligned our economic development strategies to this bloc by harnessing our collective efforts to enhance our bargaining power on the global stage,” said the County boss.
“Recognizing the importance of investing in infrastructure, we have lined up several projects, including the expansion of the Busia-Kisumu Road into a dual-carriageway.”
LREB is made up of 14 counties.
They include Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira.
Others are Bomet, Kericho, Nandi, Vihiga, Kakamega, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia.
The governor also stated that plans are at an advanced stage, towards construction of the centralised county government office block.
"I am happy to report that my administration is finalising plans to set up a centralised office block. As I have previously mentioned, our County Government offices are currently housed in private premises scattered all over the place. Our people, who are seeking services, cannot even locate these premises with ease," said Otuoma.
The former Funyula Member of Parliament (MP) confirmed that the County Government of Busia will establish a one-stop County headquarters starting the next financial year, and proceed progressively due to resource constraints.
